Dr. E. Masibo

Dr Edwin masibo was born on 23rd November, 1969, at Bukembe, in Bungoma County of Kenya. He is married with four children.He went to Bukembe Primary School, then proceeded to Friends School Kamusinga for his O’ level education and Kibabii High School for his A’ level education, before proceeding to Kenyatta University for B.Sc. in double Mathematics. After graduating from Kenyatta, Dr. Masibo joined teaching and has a wealth of experience in teching Mathematics and Physics at Nanderema Secondary School, Chesamisi High School, St. Mary’s Kibabii Boys and the Kibabii Diploma Teachers Training College. He received numerous awards as an excellent teacher of his subject areas throughout his teaching period at secondary and teacher training. Dr. Masibo joined Kibabii University College in September 2013 from Kibabii Diploma Teachers College. He has been the Chairman of the amalgamated department of Curriculum and Instructional Technology/ Science and Mathematics Education.
Dr. Masibo has a wealth of Administrative experience. From 1995 – 1997, he was Head of Mathematics Department of Nanderema Secondary School. 1998- 2000 Head of Subject Physics and Mathematics Chesamisi High School. 2000 -2002 Careers Master Chesamisi High School, 2002-2004 Senior Master Chesamisi High School. 2007-2008 Head of Physics Kibabii High School; 2009 – 2013 Head of Mathematics Department Kibabii Diploma Teachers Training College and from October 2013 to the present, he is the Chairman of the department of Curriculum and Instructional Technology/ Science and Mathematics Education, Kibabii University.
In terms of scholarship, Dr. Masibo has special interest in research in mathematics education. He has presented conferences papers and published papers and books with focus on mathematics education. He is a member of the Kenya Association of Educational Administration and Management (KAEAM).
This is an amalgamated department that combines the two departments of Curriculum and Instruction Technology and that of Science and Mathematics Education. The operations in the department are guided by the listed quality statements.
The department seeks to meet the following strategic objectives;
- Produce graduates with right knowledge, skills, and attitudes for development
- Generate knowledge that will help create pedagogical strengths for learning
- Develop research culture to enhance the quality of education
- Promote linkages and collaboration among faculties locally and internationally
- Promote application of knowledge, skills and attitudes in solving socioeconomic problems in the community through dissemination and extension.
