Education Workshop for the 21st Century Learning

Faculty of Education and Social Sciences (FESS) held a successful two days Education Workshop on 23rd – 24th October, 2018 in Auditorium C. The workshop was declared opened by DVC (Academics and Students Affairs), Prof S. Shibairo. In attendance was DVC Administration, Finance and Development, Prof. Aywa. The theme of the workshop was “Enhancing Learning Outcomes through Application of 21st Century Pedagogies in the Provision of University Education and Embracing the New Competence Based Curriculum in Kenya”.

Keynote speakers made presentations of the various topics on Education for the twenty-first century:

  1. Patrick A. Kafu of Moi University handled topics on: The Teacher in the 21st Century, Essentials for Effective Instruction and Learner Engagement in Instruction
  2. Lydia Kataka of KICD handled a topic on : The Competence Based Curriculum its Implications to University Education
  3. Dorothy Mwanzile of KICD handled a topic on : Value systems in Higher Education
  4. Edward Misava Ombajo of Aga Khan University handled topics on : Integrating Emerging Technologies in Instruction, Digital Learning the Promise and Challenges in Kenyan Universities and Digitization of the Curriculum

In closing the workshop, Dean School of Computing & Informatics (SCAI), Prof. Wabwoba thanked Dean, Faculty of Education and Social Sciences (FESS), Dr. Wepukhulu for organizing such an informative forum.
